Basic Info
Name:MIO
Bio
Character: MIO (yes, all caps. It's a stage name, but her real name is never revealed.)
Series: Rogue Galaxy
Version: uhhh from just after chapter 9, I guess. *chooses arbitrarily*
Age: 14
Gender: female
Sexuality: straight

Appearance: MIO's an adorable preteen girl, a little on the short side and built appropriately for her age. She has bright pink hair, tied in long pigtails through a blue cap with pointed "ears" on it (this also has a built-in headphone mic). Her normal outfit is a matching blue minidress with a big black bow on the collar, white panels in the front and back, and a red belt that's just for decoration. She also wears thigh-high black boots and long gloves, and a sort of poppy-uppy sleevey thingy that sits a few inches above her shoulders. She's almost always got a sugar-sweet smile on her face.

Personality: MIO's character is pretty much the penultimate ditz. She's bubbly, outgoing, all smiles and love-love-sugar most of the time, and her heavy valley-girl speech even includes occasional Engrish. She loves her fans, gladly setting aside time for photo ops and autographs. She's also known to give people complimentary memberships in her fanclub whether they want them or not. Most people either love her for her cuteness, or hate her for her vapid, willful stupidity and condescending attitude.

This is the side of her that most people see. But the kicker is, it's not the real MIO. She's a character actress, and very good at what she does. When she's out of character, she talks and acts like a perfectly normal person. MIO-the-actress is a lot mellower than MIO-the-character, and a lot smarter, incidentally. But she's been playing the character almost full-time for years, and is actually more comfortable with that role than her real personality, especially around people she doesn't know well. Typically, only those closest to her get to see her break character; she's pretty guarded about her personal life.

Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: Most of MIO's abilities are acting-related. She's highly charismatic and friendly, and can use that to her advantage if she needs to wheedle somebody for free chocolate muffins. And of course, she's very skilled at acting, especially in her usual ditzy role - she won't even break character for a terrorist attack. She's a decent singer (although her music is pretty generic) and a fantastic dancer.

Less widely known is her skill with computers. She lives in a high-tech world, works with one of her planet's biggest mainframes on a daily basis, and has a robotics expert for a father figure, so it's not as random as it sounds. In general, she can hack or encrypt things up to medium difficulty.

Weaknesses: MIO has no combat skills whatsoever. She'd know which end you're supposed to hold a gun by, but that's about it. When out of character, she's surprisingly timid and a little awkward around people, so she most often sticks with the bubbly stupid persona, which can be severely off-putting to others in itself.

History: [Note: Little is revealed about MIO's history in canon, so I made most of this up.]

Born into an acting family, MIO has been in the business her entire life, appearing in commercials and so on before she was old enough to walk. Some years ago she won a contract to do TV ads for Daytron, the largest spacecraft manufacturer on this side of the galaxy. It was through this role that she met her best friend, Mark Poccachio. (They were shooting an ad for a new product of his father's.) Though they could only see each other sporadically after that, they remained pen pals for years.

As it turned out, MIO's work with Daytron rocketed her to worldwide stardom. Before very long, she was performing at company events (in character), going to new starships' christening ceremonies (in character), and even got her very own fanclub (in character). Eventually her hectic schedule forced her to move away from her parents, so she grew closer than ever to the Poccachios, who became sort of her surrogate family - although her feelings toward Mark were definitely more than sisterly.

But at some point, tragedy struck. Very suddenly, Mark fell terribly ill and died. MIO was devastated, but couldn't really face it, as they'd been trying exceptionally hard so far to keep the Poccachios out of the limelight. The only option was to go on with her career as if nothing had happened, and that's what she had to do. She kept doing commercials, expanded into the realm of preteen pop music, and as a publicity stunt, got a receptionist job at the main office of the Galaxy Corporation (a Daytron subsidiary). She maintained a friendship with Mark's father, who confided in her that he'd (illegally) uploaded his son's personality into a computer before his death. MIO still has mixed feelings about that, but as long as he's happy...

(She comes from after events in the game that didn't directly affect her, but were on the news.)
